Skettis Kaliri

April 30, 2007

I’ve had two reports of a new level 70 owl in Skettis (specifically in Veil Ala’rak) — the Skettis Kaliri. This gorgeous bird has the same brilliant red and purple look as the Avian Warhawks from Sethekk Halls, but is apparently a lot easier to get to. They also come with Dive 3. I haven’t been able to check it out myself yet, but I can’t wait to go and get one.

Thank you to Greg (no server given) and Darsh from Garona for the updates! Darsh also let let me know that the Monstrous Kaliri in Skettis is unfortunately not tamable.

(Does anyone else get hungry for pasta when they read about Skettis?)

Tip of the Day

April 30, 2007

A Pepsi exploding in your refrigerator can really put a crimp in your morning.

Named Windserpent in Netherstorm?

April 29, 2007

I got a report a few weeks ago about a named windserpent in Netherstorm. It was a second-hand report from a reader named Dolan — his friend had seen the creature but he hadn’t, and unfortunately he wasn’t sure of the name or exact location.

Spring Cleaning

April 29, 2007

So despite all my good intentions — to jump right into updating and expanding Petopia this weekend, to catch up with e-mail and PTR info — I instead have found myself … cleaning the apartment. I hate it when the cleaning compulsion kicks in, because there isn’t much I can do about it except clean. And to be fair, it’s needed — neither my husband nor I are exactly home-makers, and there are areas of this apartment that haven’t been touched since we moved in a year ago. Large areas. Like the living room. Plus, I tell myself, since I will now be here 24/7, since there is no cleaned-by-other-people office to escape to, I should probably make sure I have a decent working environment. But it means that I’m going to be sniffly (from the dust) and sore all weekend, and I won’t get a start on all the piled up Petopia tasks until tomorrow most likely. Bah!

Ding, dong! The witch is dead!

April 27, 2007

… is probably what some of my co-workers are humming to themselves today. Or rather, my ex-co-workers. Yes, today was my last day as a corporate shill. I am no longer part of the 9-to-5 (or more accurately, 10-to-7) world. I have left the Evil Empire! And to be honest, I hope that only a few of my old team are toasting my demise. I genuinely enjoyed working with them. It’s a great team and a good project, and I am confident that they will do just fine without me. But I wanted to strike out on my own — or mostly on my own. My husband and I are starting up a small business together.

PTR Updated

April 25, 2007

I noticed when I got home from work tonight that the PTR has updated, with what appears to be a good sizable patch. I hear Hyjal is available for testing, although I have to admit that I’m not much interested unless there are new pets in there. *grin*

Something Borrowed

April 25, 2007

So I was browsing the net last night, poking into various pet sites to see how they are doing, when I ran across a site I hadn’t seen before. At first I rather liked it — it’s a simple database front-end with a nice, clean interface. Some of the query filters aren’t as useful as I’d like — and I’ve given a lot of thought to this lately since I’ve been planning out a database system to replace a few of the more annoying pages on Petopia.

WTB Bank Space

April 23, 2007

Well, I’m back. My little business trip didn’t go as well as I had hoped, but life is like that sometimes. Perhaps it’s for the best — I wouldn’t have had as much time for Petopia if the project I was pitching this weekend had gotten off the ground. Anyway, while napping on the plane I realized that I had probably better get my butt in gear and level Mania up to 70.

Away for the Weekend

April 20, 2007

I’m going to be out of town for the weekend, so I’m afraid there won’t be any updates or posts until I get back early next week. Wish me luck! (Yes, yes, I know I didn’t tell you why I need luck, but wish me luck anyway, okay? I’ll need it.)

Appearance Musings

April 17, 2007

It’s going to take a little while to get the balance right on how frequently I should post here vs. what I have to say. Right now I don’t feel like I have anything substantive to discuss, especially given that I really should be hacking up the site with those new creatures. But I did implicitly promise content by starting this blog. But my local Perforce connection is down and I’m waiting for my husband to reboot the server. So it’s not like I could be working on the site anyway.

Yes, I run Perforce at home. How geeky is that? :>
